Inauguration of the Kurbin Resilience Center: Empowering Vulnerable Communities for a Resilient Future

In a significant stride towards strengthening community resilience and fostering inclusivity, the inauguration of the Kurbin Resilience Center marked an important milestone for vulnerable women and men residing in Kurbin.

The ceremony was attended by the Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Tirana, David Wisner, Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, Mayor of Kurbin, Majlinda Cara, Director of USAID in Albania, Mischere Kawas, UNDP Resident Representative in Albania, Monica Merino, local governmental authorities, women and men, boys and girls from the community.

Attendees had the opportunity to tour the facilities of the Resilience Center gaining firsthand insight into the multisectoral services provided to individuals and families in need. The Center is run by World Vision in partnership with the Municipality of Kurbin.

The Kurbin Resilience Center is one of three resilience centers established in the context of “Improving Community Resilience" programme, funded by USAID/Albania, implemented by UNDP Albania, and run by specialized NGOs. The programme complements the EU's work on social protection and social inclusion to support Albania's efforts to meet its obligations under the acquis.  These centers offer a diverse range of services, including support for victims of domestic violence, psychological assistance, life skills sessions, and advocacy efforts tailored to marginalized communities.

Through this project USAID and UNDP aim at uplifting individuals and families impacted by exclusion, discrimination, and conflict, ultimately working towards the realization of a more resilient and inclusive society.
